As small business owners, we’re oftentimes wearing too many hats and filling too many roles. We’re not only the CEO, we’re also completing tasks within product development, customer service, tech support, marketing, and general operations. It’s too much for any single person to do! Today I’m spilling the beans on one of my best kept secrets. It’s automation, my friends! As a solo-prenuer, I simply would not be able to run my business if it wasn’t for automation. What’s automation? Automation allows you to set certain tasks on autodrive within your business. You’re likely already using some type of automation in your business without realizing it. If you’re a product based business, automation is when your customer gets a confirmation email without you lifting a finger. If you’re a service based business, automation is when your client gets a text reminder before their appointment. Many software and services you subscribe to already have built in automation like this. But what happens when you want to do more? Previously you would have to know how to code and to create the tasks that you wanted, but not anymore! You don’t have to know how to code thanks to my favorite automation solution, Zapier! What’s Zapier?Zapier allows you to create “Zaps” (tasks) that allow independent apps to “talk” to one another. Want an email reminder every time someone fills out an interest form? There’s a Zap for that! Want to send out a coupon code when someone joins your Facebook group? There’s a Zap for that! Zapier connects thousands of apps and has an intuitive user interface. Here’s the three ways that Zapier can make you happier! 1) Save TimeIf you spend any amount of time during your busy week manually entering information into a spreadsheet, you’re wasting your time! Let your computer do this work for you! One of the ways I save time using Zapier is to input new client leads into my spreadsheet. Before implementing Zapier every time I got a new lead I’d have to manually enter that information into my email marketing software. After doing this a few times and always feeling behind, I decided to automate it! It only took about twenty minutes to set up and will save me hours every month. So now when you sign up for one of my coaching calls, my Zaps are automatically adding your name to my email marketing sequence! 2) Save moneyFirst off, to get started with Zapier, it’s completely free! And you can do A LOT on the free plan. But once you get started using it, you’ll soon realize how amazing it is. You might even automate so much of your business you need to subscribe to Premium. At an easy $20 per month, Premium still saves you a ton of money. When done correctly, Zaps can replace entire roles within your company. If you’re hiring a VA to solely enter data, update spreadsheets, or follow up on leads, you might be throwing your money away. Put your people on tasks that require people and let computers handle the monotonous stuff. 3) Get more doneUltimately if you can automate the boring backend tasks, you can free yourself to get more done. As the CEO you should be focusing on business vision and direction. Allow yourself to focus on your best skills and let the computer handle the boring stuff.
